About Tamara
Hello, I am an experienced former secondary school teacher with a degree in English, and I'm passionate about helping young people feel more confident in their English studies.
After many years of working in education, I've chosen to teach through personalised one-to-one tuition. I believe that every learner is different, and that progress happens when a student feels understood, supported and empowered.
My approach is calm, encouraging and tailored to the individual. I like to focus on the whole learner, not just what is going to satisfy a mark scheme. I hope to instil a sense of curiosity and wonder to aid a genuine understanding in what the student is learning. I meet students where they are at and travel a balanced path to help them work towards their goals.
I offer support with GCSE English Language and Literature, including essay structure, analytical writing, language analysis, literature texts, exam technique and developing confident, independent responses.
I also have extensive experience supporting learners with SEN and students who are home-educated. I understand that a traditional classroom does not work for every young person.
My aim isn't simply to help students achieve a grade. It's to help them understand, make progress and discover that they are capable of more than they thought.

I am a fully qualified, experienced former classroom teacher, specialising in GCSE English. I offer personalised tuition designed around the individual learner.
My approach is entirely about meeting every student exactly where they are at - whether they are aiming to push their grades from a 7 to a 9, or simply need an extra confidence boost to pass. I break down intimidating exam papers into simple, manageable steps to build real academic momentum.
What I Offer: GCSE Academic Preparation: Specialised coaching focused on mastering essay structure, advanced language analysis, and in-depth literary explanation across the AQA and Edexcel specifications.
Core Communication Skills: Helping students communicate their ideas clearly and concisely, use evidence effectively, and manage their time to meet high-level exam marking criteria.
Inclusive & Adaptable Environment: I am highly experienced in supporting children with special educational needs, home-educated learners and students who may not thrive in a traditional classroom environment.
