About Zara

Hi, I’m Zara. I studied History and Classics at Royal Holloway and later completed a Master’s by Research in History. Alongside my academic work, I am also a poet, social researcher, and public speaker, with a deep passion for literature, history, and the cultural arts.

For the past eight years I have worked closely with GCSE and A-Level students, supporting them in developing the analytical thinking, writing, and exam confidence needed to succeed. I am proud to say that every student I have worked with has achieved their desired grade or higher.

The humanities have always been central to my life. I am fascinated by the power of language, storytelling, and ideas to shape how we understand the world. As a poet and researcher, I spend much of my time thinking about how texts, narratives, and historical perspectives influence culture and society.

This passion naturally carries into my tutoring. I aim not only to help students achieve excellent results, but also to help them develop the confidence to think independently, express their ideas clearly, and engage more deeply with the subjects they study.

I’m an enthusiastic and supportive tutor who genuinely enjoys seeing students grow in confidence as they realise their own abilities. Watching a student go from uncertainty to mastery is one of the most rewarding parts of what I do.

About the lesson

With over 8 years of tutoring experience and a 100% desired grade success rate, my lessons are designed to help students succeed in GCSE and A-Level English as well as A-Level History.

I specialise in preparing students for AQA GCSE and A-Level exams, focusing on the skills that examiners reward most: strong essay structure, clear argumentation, critical analysis, and confident exam technique.

My lessons are highly personalised. I identify the areas each student needs to improve and break down complex ideas into clear, accessible steps. We work on developing strong essays, analysing texts and historical sources effectively, and building the confidence needed to perform well under exam conditions.

Sessions are engaging and interactive, helping students move beyond memorisation to genuinely understanding the material. My aim is to equip students with the tools, strategies, and confidence needed not only to achieve their target grades but to become stronger writers and thinkers overall.
