About Richard
My name is Richard, though many people call me Mr. Rich. I am an educator, a transformational coach, and a social entrepreneur who believes literacy is a pathway to confidence, clarity, and possibility. I hold a bachelor’s degree from Rutgers University in journalism and sociology, which grounds my work in strong communication, critical thinking, and an understanding of people and systems.
I am GED-certified and have worked with learners of all ages across many learning environments. My teaching experience extends beyond Reading and Language Arts into areas such as communication skills, facilitation, capacity building, workforce development, and creative expression. I have supported learning around topics ranging from academic literacy to public health, healing-centered education, and social justice.
What remains consistent across all of my work is my approach. I teach with intention, patience, and respect. My style is calm, affirming, and skills-focused. I do not teach to intimidate or rush. I teach to help learners understand how language works, how their voice works, and how both can be used with confidence across school, work, and life. Students who work with me know they are supported, capable, and taken seriously.

My approach as an educator and transformational coach is skills-based, student-centered, and grounded in dignity and confidence. I help learners understand how reading, writing, and language work so they can apply those skills across school, testing, work, and everyday life. A typical lesson begins with clarifying goals, then breaking down concepts in clear, human language using real examples. I model how to think through questions, texts, and writing tasks step by step, and we practice together at a pace that supports understanding rather than pressure.
I am GED-certified and neurodivergent (ADHD), so my teaching lens is affirming, flexible, and trauma-aware. I do not teach to shame, rush, or intimidate. What sets me apart is that I don’t just help learners pass tests or assignment. I help them build confidence, clarity, and transferable literacy skills. My lessons are for learners of all ages, including GED students, adult learners, and those rebuilding confidence with reading and writing.
