About Gordon
My name is Gordon, and I am a very recent graduate of Colorado College. I studied Environmental Studies and English, and worked at the Ruth Barton Writing Center for all four years of undergrad.
My specialty and my passion lies in amplifying the ideas and the uniqueness of my clients through writing. I love learning new topics and meeting new people, and I am incredibly excited to begin working with you.

My tutoring takes a very adaptive approach, which involves two primary tenets: (1) that the needs of my client dictate the process, the pacing, and the structure of the session ; and (2) that effective tutoring is collaborative -- I am here not to mark up your piece with red pen, but as a set of eyes and experience that you may bounce ideas off of.
Sessions will generally start with a 5-minute introduction of the client, their background, their project, and their particular goals for this session. Goals may be as specific or as broad as you would like, anywhere from nailing the grammar or phrasing of one single sentence, to effectively structuring a piece of research, to properly citing sources for an essay.
From there, I will (with your agreement and based on the goals in mind) settle on one of my many tutoring strategies:
-Scribing
-Deconstruction of a prompt or passage
-Reading-aloud (client-led or tutor-led
-Parsing sentences for grammar and mechanics
-Proper usage of MLA, APA, or Chicago Style
-Outlining and structuring
At the end of the day, I am not trying to change the way you think or the wonderful eccentricities that make your writing unique. My job is to help you convey your ideas and your personality to your audience most effectively.
