About Niresha

I am currently a graduate student pursuing a Master's in Biomedical Engineering. Previously I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Biology, with a minor in chemistry. While I was doing my undergraduate degrees I worked as a tutor for 3 years and even spent time as a teacher’s assistant. During my time as a tutor, I experienced working with students one on one and even in smaller groups of 2-3. I really enjoy working with students to help grow their understanding and it brings me joy to see them thrive.

About the lesson

When working with a student one on one I like to first understand where their weaknesses are, this could be done by simply having a conversation with them or by having them take a test. A typical lesson will first start by going over the concept followed by us working out practice problems together. The next step is having the student work on some problems by themselves after which I will look over the problems and see if any mistakes were made. If there are any we will go over those specific questions in more detail to see where they went wrong and to try and set them on the right track. When I was in school I often found that sometimes learning in the classroom was not enough for me, I understand that sometimes a student needs a smaller space to truly understand a concept. Learning takes time and I want to support them in any way I can, at any pace they need. I am open to providing lessons for students in elementary all the way into high school, focusing on STEM subjects.
