About Andre'

I graduated from the university of Kansas City , Missouri with degrees in English (with an emphasis in creative writing) and Philosoohy. Shortly after I was accepted into Washington University Law School in St. Louis, Missouri. However the pandemic made me rethink the future I wanted to live and I passed on my admissions. My entire life has been spent in pursuit of as many experiences as I can be a part of in order to enrich my life. I’ve been everything from a bar soap maker in an all natural soap factory to a chainsaw wielding sawyer for a wild land fire fighting crew. I’ve traveled all over Europe and Asia, specifically the archipelago nation of Indonesia. I’ve been very blessed and gracious to have been given such an eventful live. All those enriching moments in my life were possible because of my education, specifically my ability to read and write. I do not mean “education” in the sense of “having a degree.” I didn’t actually get my English and Philosophy degrees til later in my life. I mean education as being able to read and write, to comprehend ideas, and to be able to convey those ideas and your needs in a way that can be understood. Having that type of education has opened the world to me. I only know how to do that because of the support of good educators in my life. I hope to be one of those for you.

About the lesson

My hope is to assist you in your educational pursuits. My intent is to support you and your studies by relating what you are learning to something valuable to you personally in your life, so that your interest in learning will take root and blossom. It isn’t enough to just tell someone “read this and do that.” You can tell someone they need to study trigonometry and have to pass the class, but if you can’t point to why they would ever use it in their personal life, they’ll just only have a surface level care for it and what they do know will be no more than regurgitation. So if you’re struggling to read and appreciate classical texts like Ancient Greek philosophy, I might be able to peak your interest in it by relating it to something in our contemporary life. For example, let’s say you are struggling to appreciate Plato’s “Allegory of the Cave,” then perhaps we could talk about Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy nominated sophomore album “good kid, m.A.A.d city”, which is a complete analogy of Plato’s “allegory of the cave.” My hope is to support you in your pursuit for knowledge in whatever way I can that could benefit you.
