I’ll never forget this one. First day, first class. I was supposed to observe for the first week or so, before I jumped in. They don’t do it like that anymore, but it was 1997. I was in the back of the room with my notebook. A kid leaned over to me and said, “Pssst…who are you?” I said, “I’m Andy…um…I’m Mr. Richardson.” I’d never been Mr. Richardson in my life before. It was kind of neat. Even now, I’m generally referred to as Mr. R, Mr. Rich, and by one student as Mr. MC Richie-Rich, but generally don’t encourage that last one. :)
