About Chinomso

As a certified K–12 Special Education teacher and an educator trained in leadership at Teachers College, Columbia University, I bring both expertise and a deep commitment to helping students grow. My teaching experience in the Bronx has allowed me to work with learners of all backgrounds and ability levels, and I have developed a strong reputation for being patient, encouraging, and highly effective. I believe that confidence is built through clarity, consistency, and genuine support, and I bring those elements into every session I teach. About the lesson

As a certified K–12 Special Education teacher and experienced classroom educator, I approach tutoring with the belief that every learner can grow when instruction is clear, supportive, and personalized. I begin by getting to know each student’s strengths, challenges, and learning style, and from there I build sessions that are structured, encouraging, and grounded in evidence-based practices. My teaching approach combines explicit modeling, guided practice, and gradual release, allowing students to understand new concepts deeply before applying them independently. A typical lesson with me begins with a short review or warm-up to activate prior knowledge, followed by a focused mini-lesson where I introduce and model a specific skill. Students then practice the skill with my support, gradually taking more ownership as their confidence grows. We end each session with reflection and a clear set of next steps so the student understands exactly how to continue improving.

What sets me apart is the combination of my instructional expertise and my ability to build strong, motivating relationships with students. I specialize in literacy, reading comprehension, writing development, and study skills, and I excel at breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps—especially for learners with IEPs, attention challenges, or those who simply benefit from more structure and clarity. At the same time, I bring enrichment-level strategies for students who are ready to push their thinking further. My sessions are joyful, structured, and empowering; students feel seen, supported, and challenged in the right ways. My tutoring is ideal for elementary, middle, and high school students who need academic support, targeted literacy intervention, confidence-building, organization skills, or help preparing for classroom assignments and assessments. Above all, I create a learning environment where every student can experience success and take pride in their progress.
