About Elizabeth
My name is Elizabeth, but I go by Libby. One of the most common phrases from students - even myself is "maybe the author just wanted to write about blue curtains, why do they have to represent sadness?" and that's totally true. Nobody sets out to write something with the expectation of representing sadness in blue curtains, but the job of an English or Literature student is to believe that they do - even if it's not real. I want to try and help students get behind the idea of those sad blue curtains, and realize *why* their teachers are asking for these kinds of responses, before doing it themselves. I've spent the last 9 years tutoring both online and in-person with the idea of getting students to understand English and Lit *before* they attempt it. Nobody needs to like the subject, you just need to try your best.

I teach high school students across years 7-12, working to break down the traditional TEEL essay structure into more specified and comprehensive questions that are text-specific and designed to enhance critical thinking and gain better insight into how students should approach essays and assessments. My lessons are typically an hour long and include working on ongoing assessment criteria. I've been tutoring since 2017, both online and in-person through a wide range of literary texts and assignments.
