About Jakayla
I am a recent summer 2025 graduate from Florida A&M University. Where I earned a degree in Political Science with a minor in Pre-Law. I have been a part of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Gulf Scholars Program, Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, National Honor Society, etc. While in these programs I held many positions and leadership roles that included tutoring others. My professional career started in 8th grade where I was helped by several collegiate scholars on how to create a resume, portfolio, and a name for myself. I then continued on by starting college courses in high school, music positions, taking on several sports, leadership positions, speech and debate, YMCA youth in debate, tutoring, etc. I expanded my efforts by volunteering for events, houseless shelters, and to be a support role for peers.

Technique: I go through various philosophies, games, and challenges to learn what one’s learning style(s) are. Then, I use these techniques to learn at what speed the person learns at and why.
Lesson plan: I always start at the beginning of the particular subject, and work my way up to where my student is. Next, I begin asking where their confusion begins with their learning. Then, I go back to other lessons and ask them to point out where they had the most understanding. Finally, I work with the scholar to create their own specialized learning plan.
Tools used to help: Microsoft 365 tools/apps, Google Drive apps/tools, Adobe Reader, Adobe Acrobat, Desmos, Canva, Canvas, Quizlet, SurveyMonkey, Grammarly, MyBib.com, Scribbr, and CitationMachine.com
8th grade and below: For these particular students I do ask that the parent or guardian does session recap with me. Due to me wanting the best support for each scholar as I may not be available at all times. As well as to ensure that you're able to advocate for them in all spaces.
9th grade and above: You will need to send in the topic or the work in which you need help with a minimum of 4 hours in advance to the session to me. Also, I do ask to have a recap session every other week with you, a parent, or guardian.
