About Melissa
Hi! My name is Melissa, and I am a certified K–8 Special Education teacher with over 15 years of experience supporting students in both resource room and in-class settings. I specialize in helping students build confidence and success in reading, writing, and overall study skills.
I currently work with middle school students in English Language Arts and across content areas, and I have extensive experience supporting learners with IEPs. I understand how to break down complex material, provide meaningful accommodations, and teach strategies that help students become more independent and organized.
My sessions are supportive, structured, and tailored to each child’s individual needs. I frequently help students with:
• Reading comprehension and using text evidence
• Writing organization, paragraph development, and editing
• Grammar and sentence structure
• Study skills and executive functioning (organization, time management)
• Homework support and assignment completion
I also work closely with families to ensure strategies used in our sessions carry over into the classroom.
My goal is not just to help students complete their work—but to help them feel confident, capable, and successful.
