About Lika
I am a student of English and a passionate reader and writer! Having attended the International School of Moscow throughout my childhood, I know firsthand the difficulty of getting to grips with English as a second language and want to apply the methods that helped me the most. I have also gone through the process of successfully applying to competitive boarding schools in the UK, and am keen to share what I have learnt through my experience. At Rugby School, I was an academic scholar, acquiring twelve 9s in my GCSEs, and the school poet laureate, writing and helping others to write poetry! I feel strongly about inspiring a love of language and literature in young people, owing my own passion for these subjects to great teachers and tutors.

I am committed to an informal and personal approach in my lessons with each student, catering to individual needs as well as incorporating the personal interests of a student into an educational framework. In my time at sixth form, I successfully tutored struggling GCSE students in English language and literature, among other subjects such as Latin and history, as well as taking part in a series of initiatives teaching kids from local primary schools creative writing, English, Russian, and Latin! Having acquired a TEFL certificate in teaching English language, I feel equipped to combine a more structured approach with the regular introduction of new material followed by a range of practice exercises, and a conversational approach through which I myself reached proficiency in English as an 8 year old.
