About Abby

I understand that mastering English language skills, whether it's grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, or writing, can be challenging. But fear not, as I am here to guide you on this exciting learning journey!

With years of experience as a tutor, I have honed my expertise in helping students achieve their goals. As the daughter of a lifelong teacher, I discovered an early passion for tutoring. As President of my high school's National Honor Society, I was required to volunteer as a tutor for 50 hours per school year - and I loved every second! I soon began my own successful, freelance tutoring business and have been tutoring ever since (almost 8 years now!).

I am a graduate of UC Santa Barbara with a Bachelor's Degree in Global Studies and minors in both Spanish and Professional Writing with an emphasis in Civic Engagement.

Rest assured that my approach is rooted in professionalism, and I maintain a high standard of integrity in all aspects of my teaching. I am dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and empowered to excel. I will be patient, understanding, and responsive to unique needs and learning styles while providing constructive feedback to help students improve.

About the lesson

As an English and Essay Writing tutor, I believe in creating a supportive and engaging learning environment that fosters critical thinking and effective communication skills. My teaching method is student-centered, where I tailor my approach to each student's unique needs and learning styles. I focus on building a strong foundation of language skills, including grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, essay writing techniques, and more.

A typical lesson plan will include a combination of visual aids, real-life examples, and practical applications to make complex concepts more accessible and relatable to the student. I develop customized curriculums that focus on addressing the student's areas of improvement while also incorporating their interests and strengths. Each lesson may include a mix of instruction, practice, and feedback and can be tailored to all ages and grade levels.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where students feel comfortable expressing themselves, asking questions, and taking risks. I prioritize building a strong rapport with my students to establish trust and motivation, and I actively encourage their participation and involvement in the learning process.
