About Raven

I am actively a student at the University of San Diego. I am pursuing a degree in cognitive psychology. As someone who is always looking for new opportunities to learn and help others, I make it my goal to not only build a foundation of relationships with people on trust but make sure to inquire about interests to see how I can better advocate and help you. As I pursue my career in psychology, I work with life insurance and clients every day and meet people every day with a goal to know them and build a foundation of trust. I focus on the task at hand and aim to help in any way that I can. If there isn't a thing I don't know about something, I do my due diligence to make sure that I find the answers and help you understand them by breaking them down for you. I am a firm believer that the only "ridiculous" question someone can ask is the one they don't ask. I make it aware to not only stop me if you have any questions but make sure you fully understand the task at hand before moving on. Don't be afraid to ask questions as that is how you learn. I am also a believer in the act of failure is how you succeed. There will be times where you don't understand something no matter what we do and that is okay, I will do what I can to try to close the gap between the unknown and the known.

Although I don't have a teaching degree, the subjects I have studied give me the opportunity for understanding diversity in an ever-changing world. In psychology, there is not only a pooling of data you have to read but different papers that have to be written on a diverse array of subjects. I have been told that the way that I not only approach but also analyze situations is unique. Our school systems continue to change and our number one thing is the success of our children and their education. I am a quick learner and if I don't know something, I will research and learn it to better equip to help someone else out. I want to be able to help close the gap between the struggles of keeping up in the fast-paced settings of school, but also help our kids be successful for their future. I took a diverse array of subjects in college in ethnic studies. To be prepared for the situations that different backgrounds of ethnicities and races is something I feel is important to understand each individual as well as the things that can be stressors for them and influence in how they learn. I am flexible in seeing how people learn to come up with a method as to how to tutor them. Tell me what your strengths as well as what you struggle with. I am willing to also help people of all ages in tutoring because, as I said previously, I will learn more about something if I need to or refresh if need be. I currently work with elementary kiddos, both in a classroom and after-school. I know frustrations happen but I hope to ease their ever-changing minds to better handle the stress of learning new things.
