About Helena
Personally, helping others is something that allows me to achieve a sense of personal satisfaction. Much of my previous work experience has involved helping others, from hospital work to primary school work. I enjoy taking on the responsibility of helping improve the happiness and success of other people. I am able to take on a positive and friendly attitude whilst interacting with students, and I believe that it is this positivity that makes me a unique and enjoyable tutor to work with. I have also had experience in babysitting for a range of parents, who are extremely confident to leave their child in my responsibility. The level of professionalism I take on during tutoring manifests itself in my impressive results during secondary and higher education, and I am eager to pass this on to other students.

During private tutoring, I take a student-independent based approach, whereby I first examine and observe how a student would tackle an essay question or piece of English reading. I then provide detailed feedback, and work with the student in how to improve their methodology of tackling the question. This will cover all aspects, from trains of thought, to planning, to execution of an answer. The A-levels I have studied included English, Biology and Chemistry, receiving AAB. I received a 7 in GCSE English (language and literature). I also received a first in both years of university (third year : predicted first). I have experience in working with children in a primary school as an after school club leader, providing support with play activities but also academic tasks, and am therefore highly confident with student interaction and communication.
