About Sam
I studied Jazz Guitar, Piano and Composition at Chetham's School of Music between 2014 and 2019 on a Music and Dance Scheme bursary before continuing my musical education at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland's Jazz Department, where I graduated with a 1st Class Honours bachelor's degree in Jazz Studies along with receiving the Mark Mckergow Improvisation Prize and Alan Macauley Career Development Award upon graduating. Since graduating I have played at multiple venues across Scotland, London and international gigs in Europe. My recent engagements include recording guitar for Masha Zhurovlova's debut EP 'Waves' and an upcoming performance at the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival with the Finlay Mackenzie Quintet.
I have nearly a decade of experience in the music industry and I use everything I have learnt in that time to inform my teaching.

I do not believe in a 'one size fits all' approach when it comes to teaching, as each student will have very different needs and interests when it comes to improving at music or the guitar. With this in mind, my curriculum for each of my students is tailored individually.
The first lesson takes the form of a diagnostics session, where we figure out where you're currently at on the instrument, what your interests are, where you need to improve and what your goals are. After this, I will create a lesson and practice plan that is entirely tailored to your musical needs and goals, be you a total beginner or a professional musician looking to take your playing to the next level!
Lessons are an hour long and informed by 5 years of teaching experience and nearly a decade of gigging experience.
