About Jess
My name is Jess, I am 24 and I love helping students achieve their potential.
Throughout school, I found it really frustrating that most of my teachers followed the same, uncreative teaching techniques. I found it really difficult to engage with the content.. until I found an amazing tutor! My tutor really helped me to see things differently and everything started to 'click', thanks to her different and FUN teaching strategies. This inspired me to become a tutor and implement similar strategies to help others!
I value my students deeply and I will always listen to their wants and needs. I strongly believe that finding the right tutor takes time and having a good relationship is really important, so I will always offer my first lesson free of charge to make sure the fit is right for you!

My lessons are student-led. The first 5 minutes of each lesson (1 or 2 hours) will be dedicated to a discussion, in which the student has the opportunity to report on progress and difficulties and most importantly, can dictate the direction of the lesson e.g., where they need the most support.
I have over 2 years collective experience in teaching and tutoring students aged 4-18. I tutored French and Spanish at a school for 18 months, with particular focus on exam preparation (GCSE and A-Level) and I have taught English as a foreign language. I have TEFL qualifications and have participated in other teacher training. I am comfortable tutoring all levels, however, my teaching has been most effective at GCSE-level.
I use a variety of methods to help students reach their potential, always incorporating student's preferred teaching techniques. I like to implement a multi-faceted approach, drawing on various resources (e.g., text-books, film and TV, podcasts and radio, social media, practical exercises) to really immerse students in the topic area. I also like to communicate continuously throughout tutoring - not only does this help students feel comfortable in expressing concerns and asking questions, discussing content can be really effective in helping students learn.
