About Jake
I'm a University of San Francisco graduate with over five years of experience tutoring students in math and science. I've worked with learners of all ages, helping them gain confidence, improve their grades, and build a strong foundation in STEM subjects. Outside of tutoring, I work in cancer research fundraising — a role I’m passionate about — but I’m currently offering tutoring sessions to earn a bit of extra income. My approach is patient, clear, and supportive, and I focus on making even the most challenging topics feel manageable and approachable.

Reading Tutoring I offer personalized one-on-one reading support for students at various grade levels. My sessions are designed to strengthen comprehension, boost vocabulary, and develop critical thinking and analytical skills in a supportive, low-pressure environment. Areas of Focus: Reading comprehension Vocabulary building Fluency and reading confidence Analyzing fiction and nonfiction texts Writing support (summaries, essays, responses to reading) What to Expect: Guided reading and discussion tailored to your student’s level Techniques for identifying key ideas, themes, and details Support with school reading assignments and independent reading goals Flexible online scheduling to meet your needs Whether your student is just learning to read more fluently or working on deeper analysis of literature and informational texts, I’ll tailor each session to help them grow as a confident, thoughtful reader.
