About Andriana

Personal Description: My name is Andriana and I am a Greek language teacher. I hold BA Hons in Medieval and Neoclassical Greek Literature from the University of Ioannina. I am an experienced, friendly and patient teacher with a strong academic background. My student's age varies from children to adults, therefore I know very well how to adjust the lesson according to my students' needs and expectations. I love my students and they love me too! Due to my commitment, dedication and passion for children, I am a hard-working, great team player and very often go the extra mile under pressure to assist students with their learning needs. My background in education gives me the confidence to utilise my communication, teaching and other professional skills, as well as my experience to assist children in any educational environment. Working as a teacher is fun for me, not a chore! Teaching Experience: Currently, I am working as a Greek teacher, assisting children with their school study, helping them with any learning difficulties they would face and preparing them for the next school day. My intention is to apply modern learning methods, for a comprehensible and interesting lesson, while supplying the children with the necessary tools for effective independent study. Since moving to the UK I engaged with the teaching of the Greek language to adults and children, who either wished to learn the language or to improve their skills. I was a Primary teacher in the Hellenic School of Portsmouth, teaching Greek to children of the many Greek families that live locally. Tutoring Approach: In tutoring, what works is the one-to-one relationship between the student and tutor. With only one person to focus on, tutors can try a variety of teaching techniques in order to work out the most effective way of helping the student understand a topic. I use lots of methods depending on age, for example, I use art, music and games for children aged 5-12. I believe this encourages children to enrich their vocabulary. The lessons are designed to meet each child's individual needs. For the adults, I use different methods and encourage students to use tablets and laptops and the use of social media. University : - University of Ioannina - BA Hons in Medieval and Neoclassical Greek Literature [6.39/10] Other Qualifications : QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)

Andriana has taught us over the last year. She has been enthusiastic, informative, patient and kind. Greek is a difficult language to learn, but Andriana teaches it exceptionally well and we’ve really enjoyed our lessons with her.
