About Rubin

Folks who want to skip the fluff and get right into the Canadian folk tradition are the ones I work with best. I have spent 1 year teaching guitar and have had the pleasure of guiding over 20 students through the process.

My BM in Popular Music from Selkirk College taught me that the underlying idea matters more than how much you polish the finish.

I care about your own reasoning and rely on 1 year of playing and teaching to keep things sharp and focused as we work through barre chords, tuning, maintenance, and reading sheet music or tabs.

It is just about getting the sound right and keeping the momentum moving forward.

About the lesson

You will find that core of my teaching is a 7.0 score on focus and steady practice to ensure you never lose your way. We run through songwriting, power chords, scales, modes, and grade exam prep while keeping a practice module attached to every single session to reinforce what we covered.

By the time we finish, I want you to be the one making the creative choices because you understand exactly how the instrument works under your fingers. It is less about me showing off and more about you feeling the weight of the guitar and trusting your instincts on the fretboard. Does that sound like the kind of clarity you are seeking for your own musical development?
