About Kieran

Hi there! I'm Kieran, a guitarist and composer.

I have a strong musical background, with over 10 years experience of playing live. I have played with a wide variety of musicians playing genres from Jazz to Classical and from Metal to Pop. I have grade 8 certificates in guitar and clarinet which developed my musicianship even further.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Creative Music Technology from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (RWCMD) and can give lessons in music production, song-writing and composition. As a result of my study I worked as a freelance songwriter gaining airplay on BBC Radio 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio West Midlands. My time at RWCMD introduced me to a wide range of composition and pro-audio techniques which I would love to share with others.

About the lesson

When teaching guitar, I find it very important for my students to learn the music that excites them! I will also show the importance of exercises that unlock the unique musician in you!
I also encourage students to learn standard notation in order to develop musical versatility and a strong relationship with their instrument. I understand the vastness of the system can be daunting, but with my patience and knowledge I can help you see that it is not as scary as it looks! However if you feel you are more comfortable using tab I encourage that too.

My composition lessons include getting started with composition and songwriting, an in-depth look into any of your compositions you would like assistance with, help with navigating your musical direction and avant-garde techniques. I really want to help students create something that is valuable to them.

With recording and music technology, I like to show the many possibilities of different approaches in order to broaden your creative horizons. I understand a wide range of recording, mixing and mastering techniques which will help your recordings and creations shine!

Whatever you choose to study with me, I will guide you through helping you find your own individual musical voice and experiencing the magic of playing and creating music!
