About Luke
I have played guitar for 15 years and been writing music for 7+ of those years. I have as of yet taught 3 students how to play guitar with success. My main specialties are: rock/metal guitar (in particular lead guitar); acoustic guitar (in particular fingerstyle guitar and folk).
I am also experienced at teaching and tutoring maths and physics which has greatly expanded my knowledge of effective teaching practices.

My teaching methodology is very flexible to the needs of the student. I believe that students should be totally free to explore their interests, given that there is a solid foundation of technique and knowledge.
At first I assess the student to see where they are at in terms of technique and knowledge. I also determine the student's goals so that I can structure my teaching around this.
I like to teach students their favourite songs as part of lessons to put their newfound skills into context.
My philosophy is to build a foundation of skills for the student (e.g. different techniques, reading tabs, how to properly pick and fret etc.) and then let their passion guide them to where they want to go. I particularly love to teach songwriting and guiding students to be the best musicians they can be!
