About John
I was adopted by a family of Black educators dating back to before the Civil War. My ancestors and immediate family used educational experiences to uplift themselves and people around them to inspire and collaboratively lead Black communities and the larger world.

I help students ask the right questions of themselves and others to learn how to learn through literary endeavors. I work with students on developing critical thinking skills, particularly how to form thesis statements and presenting their arguments from the introduction and body of their essays to their conclusions. I also work with students on finding their voices as critical readers and understanding how to build relationships with teachers and peers in and outside of the classroom.
