About Nicole
Hi! I'm Ms. Komar, a passionate Special Education teacher dedicated to helping students of all abilities reach their full potential. With 2 years of experience in the field, I’ve learned that every child learns in their own unique way, and I’m committed to creating an individualized and supportive learning environment for each student. My teaching approach is centered around patience, compassion, and building strong, trusting relationships with my students. When I’m not teaching, you can find me at home with my two loyal dogs, Sascha, or cuddling with my adorable guinea pigs, Stella and Winnie. Animals have always been a big part of my life, and they teach me a lot about patience, care, and the importance of making space for all types of personalities and needs. I believe that just like our furry friends, each student deserves the time, attention, and respect to flourish in their own way. Outside the classroom, I’m a big advocate for animal therapy and often incorporate pet visits into my teaching practice to help create a calm, comforting space for my students. I’m excited to help each child feel seen, heard, and successful!

By establishing a nurturing and positive relationship, I help students feel comfortable and motivated to take risks in their learning. **Structured, Yet Flexible Lessons:** My approach balances structure with flexibility, using clear expectations, visual aids, and hands-on activities to help students process information more easily. At the same time, I adapt my methods to fit each child’s learning style, whether through auditory, visual, or kinesthetic techniques, ensuring the material resonates. **Focus on Social and Emotional Growth:** I understand that social and emotional well-being is key to a student’s success. Through teaching self-regulation strategies, boosting self-esteem, and promoting peer relationships, I aim to equip students with the skills they need not only academically, but socially and emotionally as well. **Ongoing Progress Monitoring:** To ensure consistent improvement, I regularly assess students’ progress through various tools and observations. I provide clear, constructive feedback and work with parents to ensure we're all aligned in supporting the child's learning.
