About Ivy

As a microbiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), my work revolves around analyzing environmental samples to uncover insights into infectious diseases and antimicrobial resistance. With a solid educational background encompassing Bachelor's and Master's degrees in environmental sciences, microbiology, statistics, and public/global health, I bring a comprehensive understanding of these critical disciplines to my tutoring sessions.

My expertise lies in applying scientific principles to real-world challenges, whether in the laboratory or in academic settings. I leverage my in-depth knowledge of microbiology and environmental science to help students grasp complex concepts, while my proficiency in statistics enables me to facilitate data analysis and interpretation.

With a passion for education and a commitment to fostering a deeper understanding of biology-related topics, I strive to create engaging and effective learning experiences for my students. Whether it's breaking down challenging concepts, providing guidance on assignments, or offering insights from my professional experience, I am dedicated to empowering students to achieve their academic goals and excel in their studies.

As a tutor, my approach revolves around creating a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes.

Here's how I share my knowledge:

Patience and Understanding: I prioritize patience and understanding, recognizing that every student learns at their own pace. I take the time to explain concepts thoroughly and in multiple ways until the student grasps them.

Structured Workflow: I maintain a structured workflow to keep the student on task and make the most of our time together. This includes setting clear objectives for each session and breaking down complex topics into manageable parts.

Active Learning: I incorporate active learning techniques such as interactive discussions, problem-solving activities, and hands-on experiments whenever possible to deepen understanding and engagement.

I am comfortable teaching Middle School, High School, College, early to advance learning in Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Sciences, and Statistics
