About Ms Dev

I have never enjoyed any job nearly as much as tutoring. I excel at being able to simplify something for a child to help them understand it from their mode of learning. I enjoy being patient with children because it is my responsibility to understand that I'm better equipped to remain calm and focused and help them with their bright future.

About the lesson

I was a Reading Tutor from December 2021 until April 2023 for Varsity Tutors. All sessions were done remotely, and offered Nationwide.
I tutored spelling and reading with a concentration on reading comprehension, grammar, phonics, vocabulary, context, proper sentence & paragraph structure, creative writing, answering worksheet/test questions, and understanding/following instructions.
Reading comprehension includes: figurative language, personification, character analysis, identifying details, drawing a conclusion, linking cause & effect, and how to put events in order.

In between tasks, I encouraged students to take 60-120-second long breaks, where we practiced breathing exercises, stretched, they got a snack or a beverage, or they showed me newly finished art projects. Within an hour long session this would usually take place at the half an hour.
