About Mike
I've toured with some amazing players from around the globe, have produced and engineered several albums.
Not only am I a player of 35 years, I am also a perpetual student. I love growth and I enjoy promoting growth in my students. I still search out fresh knowledge and solutions to old problems. Learning an instrument can be frustrating especially at first. Styles are everything when it comes to learning. Blues, rock, funk, Motown, progressive, fusion, metal, dance, New Wave, etc. So it may be "Enter Sandman" one week and "Boogie Oogie Oogie" the next. We will discuss not only how to play these songs but why they are they way they are and how they apply to your education past and present.
Reading, theory, transcribing, ear training. Advice on equipment, band challenges, etc.

After 35 years as a player, thousands of shows, and countless recordings, teaching is still my favorite activity as a musician.
All styles and levels welcome. Many of my students have gone on to successful working bands, win music scholarships for University and play with some great artist including one American Idol winner. Middle School and High School students wanting to join the Jazz Band, I'm here to help you prepare!
Wanna just get together with your friends and jam? Playing an instrument is a great social tool. Not everyone is looking to be the next Jaco of Flea, but we're all looking to make our experience as a player more fun.
