About Tessa

My name is Tessa Barangan, and I am a dedicated and passionate teacher with over seven years of experience working with children from Kindergarten 1 (KG1) to Grade 6. Since 2017, I have been committed to helping young learners build strong academic foundations while developing their confidence and love for learning. I hold a valid ADEK pass and have gained valuable experience teaching in a Bloom Charter School, where I further enhanced my skills in delivering high-quality, student-centered education. I also hold relevant teaching certifications and continue to pursue professional development to stay current with effective teaching methods. My teaching philosophy is rooted in patience, encouragement, and creating a positive, engaging classroom environment tailored to each student’s needs. I believe every child has the potential to succeed with the right support and guidance. Outside of teaching, I enjoy reading, creating educational resources, and exploring creative ways to make learning meaningful and fun for my students.

My Approach to Tutoring and Teaching

I have been a dedicated teacher since 2017, with experience in guiding students from KG1 to Grade 6. My approach to teaching is student-centered, interactive, and adaptive to each child’s individual learning needs and pace.

Teaching Techniques and Methodology:

I believe that learning should be engaging, supportive, and structured. I use a variety of teaching methods depending on the student's level and subject area, including:

Visual aids and hands-on activities to help young learners grasp concepts more effectively.

Interactive discussions and guided practice to encourage student participation and critical thinking.

Differentiated instruction, where I modify my teaching strategies to fit the student’s learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic).

Positive reinforcement to build confidence and motivation.

Regular assessments (both formal and informal) to track progress and adjust instruction accordingly.

Lesson Structure and Duration:

Each lesson typically lasts one hour, which allows sufficient time for:

A short review of previous material

Introduction of new concepts

Guided practice and activities

Wrap-up and reflection or assessment

Experience and Background:

With over 7 years of experience in teaching, I have developed a deep understanding of child development and curriculum requirements. My background includes classroom teaching as well as one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions. I’m committed to helping each student reach their full potential, both academically and personally.

Who My Lessons Are For:

My tutoring sessions are designed for students from Kindergarten 1 (KG1) to Grade 6. I support early learners in building foundational skills in reading, writing, and math, and help older elementary students strengthen their understanding in core subjects while developing study habits and critical thinking skills.
