About Miranda

I'm a qualified Secondary English school teacher working in London with a MA in English Language and Literature and PGCE from the University of Edinburgh and UCL respectively. I have been tutoring (I)GCSE and IB English to students for 5+ years. I am open to individual learning styles and like to make the learning process light, personalised and productive!

About the lesson

I use the Communicative Approach to connect with my students; by focusing on meaningful connection, I have found that students are more likely to memorise and correctly interpret information. The tasks and activities are based on the students' current school/university syllabuses. I approach each topic chronologically to align with how they are learning at school/university or by structuring each class based on the individual skills they wish to improve on.

Perfect! During my English lessons with Miranda, I finally got to focus on the one subject holding me back from a satisfactory university application. Each lesson had a relaxed and fun atmosphere, while also proving to be an extremely educational experience. Miranda prepared a set of interactive activities for each meeting, allowing me to work out things for myself rather than the one sided lecture style which I have experienced with previous tutors. Huge thumbs up! I have no doubt learned more in my brief time with Miranda than some Teachers have managed to teach me in an entire year of school. I owe this entirely to her engaging teaching style which took away the pressures of learning, even making me look forward to each meeting. I would highly recommend Miranda to anyone hoping to improve their English ability.
