About Laurie
Hi! I am a high school teacher in Austin, Texas. I have taught English, Italian, and AVID at the high school and college level for the past decade. I have a Bachelor's degree in English and Italian, a Master's degree in Italian Studies, and I earned a teaching certificate for English Language Arts (grades 7-12) and for Special Education. Before adventuring into the wonderful world of teaching, I was a Korean linguist in the Marine Corps.

Hi! I love working one-on-one with students to improve their writing! For my lessons, it's best when a student can bring a writing sample to our session; when that is possible, we can tease it out together to figure out how to improve organization, transitions, and sentence structure so that the finished piece really shines!
