About Anton
I am an academically trained English tutor with a strong background in literature, academic writing, and critical analysis. I hold a BA and MA in English, an MSc from the London School of Economics, and have undertaken doctoral-level study at the University of Cambridge.
Alongside teaching, I work professionally as an author and translator, bringing real-world experience of writing, editing, and precise language use into my lessons.
I have taught English and other subjects privately for more than 25 years, as well as in Spain and in Norway, including at Oslo Cathedral School; often known as “Katta”, one of Norway’s leading public schools.
Teaching across different educational systems has given me a clear understanding of how academic expectations vary, and how to adapt methods for different ages, levels, and learning styles.
My approach is rigorous but supportive. I help students develop strong analytical skills, clear written expression, and confidence in handling complex texts.
I work in a professional, organised, and reliable manner that brings results, and aim to create a calm, respectful learning environment that builds confidence and intellectual independence for students of all ages.

My English lessons are structured, focused, and tailored to academic success. I support GCSE and A-level students with close reading, essay structure, and exam technique, and help university applicants develop the analytical writing and critical thinking required for Oxbridge and Russell Group entrance.
In my lessons, students can expect:
* Clear explanations of how strong answers and essays are constructed
* Close reading techniques that improve understanding of complex texts
* Practical strategies for planning, writing, and improving written work
* Support in developing independent thought and academic confidence
I place particular emphasis on understanding why a response works, not simply what to write. This helps students move beyond formulaic answers and develop greater depth, precision, and control in their writing.
