• When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

  I developed interest in languages since I was in secondary school. I have learned several languages such as English, Arabic and Spanish. I took interest in personal tutoring when I was an English teacher at a language centre as I found it is more effective to individual students who have a specific goal, i.e. to score in MUET or IELTS to attain it.

• Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

  I love languages in general, especially English. The topics that I love are effective writing, speaking fluency, vocabulary enrichment and grammar. Definitely, I will also focus on specific weaknesses that students have, such as confidence level and accent reduction.

• Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you? My role model was my first manager after graduating from university, who inspired me to pursue my interests, and I did what it takes to be a better person. He held several technology patents in the US.

• What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

  Quick thinking, caring and able to identify students' weaknesses and strengths, as well as their potential.

• Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

  Being passionate about what we are doing will be the best motivator in life. It empowers us to be the best version of us.

• What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

  Last-minute students who have only one week to prepare for their exams.

• Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

  I am a passionate tutor, who cares deeply about my students/clients. I also believe in lifelong learning as knowledge knows no boundary.
