About Sumant
I am a Mechanical Engineering graduate, and my journey with the UPSC examination — including six Mains and two interview experiences — shaped the way I think about learning and preparation. It taught me discipline, patience, and the importance of clear thinking under pressure. Over time, I found my natural interest in History and Philosophy, where ideas, society, and ethical choices come together. In my classes, I explain events and thinkers in context, focusing on understanding rather than memorization. With 12 years of teaching and mentoring experience, my approach is calm, discussion-based, and clarity-oriented, suited for students who want to think deeply and learn meaningfully.

In my class, history and philosophy begin with a simple question: why do people think and act the way they do?
Sometimes we start with a story from the past, sometimes with a dilemma from the present — and slowly connect the two.
When we read about Ashoka, the discussion is not only about an emperor, but about power, regret, and moral change. When we touch upon Plato, it is not philosophy for memorisation, but a way to think about justice, authority, and responsibility. These names appear naturally, as part of a larger conversation about society and human behaviour.
The class moves at a thoughtful pace. I explain events, pause for context, invite questions, and encourage students to think aloud. The aim is not to finish portions quickly, but to develop clarity, perspective, and the habit of thinking.
With 12 years of teaching and mentoring experience, I focus on helping students connect ideas across history, ethics, and society — in a way that feels logical, relatable, and meaningful. Whether you are preparing for examinations or learning out of curiosity, the class is designed to help you understand the past and reflect on the present.
