My approach to tutoring involves identifying a student's strengths and weaknesses then leading them through reading and writing exercises that allow them to both build confidence in their abilities and fill gaps in their skillset/knowledge of the subject. Most importantly, I am focused on developing a self-motivated love of learning in students by encouraging them to explore around their subject and enjoy the journey of lifelong learning beyond academics at school.
I hope to make the most of the freedom of tutoring, being outside of the school setting, by using the time to help the student think deeply about their subject, beyond the standard interpretations of literature and art given in the textbook, and form coherent responses to essay questions in the form of essay plans and short texts.
The lessons are aimed at GCSE level students, however I am happy to work with both older and younger students as well.
I recommend 1 hour online lessons once or twice per week, with the option of setting extra work that would be completed outside of the tutoring sessions.
