About Jhanae
I am an honors student with extensive experience in academic writing, research, and long-form projects at the high school and undergraduate levels. Through my own coursework, thesis work, and research-based assignments, I have developed a strong understanding of how to structure clear arguments, analyze sources effectively, and communicate ideas with precision. I approach tutoring with professionalism, patience, and attention to detail. I understand that writing can feel overwhelming, especially when assignments are complex or expectations are unclear. My goal is to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and refining their work. I am especially attentive to clarity, organization, and proper citation, and I take care to explain feedback so students not only improve a single assignment, but also build skills they can use moving forward. I take deadlines seriously, respect academic integrity, and tailor my support to each student’s individual needs. I work best with high school and undergraduate students seeking guidance with essays, research papers, and academic writing in the humanities and social sciences.

My approach as a tutor is collaborative and student-centered. I focus on helping students understand what an assignment is asking for, organize their ideas clearly, and strengthen their writing through discussion and guided revision rather than lectures.
Teaching methods & techniques:
I work through drafts with students line-by-line, offering clear explanations for suggested edits so they can apply the same skills independently in future work. I emphasize structure, clarity, argument development, and proper citation, and I tailor my feedback to each student’s goals and learning style.
A typical lesson:
A session usually begins with a brief conversation about the assignment requirements and the student’s concerns. We then review the student’s work together, focusing on thesis development, organization, and clarity. I help revise sections in real time, explain why certain changes strengthen the writing, and end the session by outlining next steps the student can take on their own.
What sets me apart:
As an honors student who has completed extensive research and long-form academic writing, I understand the pressure and expectations students face. I prioritize clarity, patience, and encouragement, creating a low-stress environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and refining their ideas.
Who my lessons are for:
My lessons are best suited for high school and undergraduate students who want support with academic writing, essay structure, research papers, and citation styles (MLA, APA, Chicago). I am especially helpful for students in the humanities and social sciences.
