Instruction in English literature and composition, research, journalism, history, and American culture

Methodology

Learning is a lifelong quest. I have been working on a large book related to the sport of boxing, race and history of Detroit.

Teaching and learning is a collaborative experience. It is about attempting to answer questions. Why is A. Phillip Randolph ignored as a Civil Rights advocate? Why did President Roosevelt resist Civil Rights? What makes a writer of fiction great? How does Anton Chekhov use simple language to express the profound?

Background

Degrees in English and creative writing. Worked in pro boxing. Studied contemporary American film.
