About Farid

I have always had a passion for mathematics and statistics. I have graduated with a M.S. in Pure Mathematics from North Carolina State University, a M.S. in Data Science and Statistics from Paris Sorbonne University (formerly Université de Pierre-et-Marie-Curie , Jussieu ) , and a M.S. in Applied Mathematics from Paris Sorbonne University. I am also a native French speaker and am fluent in English. I am able to tutor students in French as well as Mathematics. In my free time, I enjoy playing soccer and running outdoors.

About the lesson

I am a passionate educator dedicated to fostering a supportive and engaging learning environment where students can develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that everyone has the potential to excel in mathematics, and that effective instruction and tutoring should be inclusive, accessible, and tailored to meet the diverse needs of learners.

A key component of my teaching approach is to create a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving and active participation. I strive to make mathematics relevant and meaningful by connecting it to real-world applications and incorporating examples from various disciplines.

Furthermore, I am committed to supporting students from diverse backgrounds and ensuring that all learners feel valued and included. I believe that creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is essential for fostering academic success, and I strive to create a space where students feel comfortable asking questions, seeking help, and sharing their perspectives.

In my tutoring and instruction, I emphasize the importance of effective communication and clear explanations. I believe that it is crucial to use language that is accessible to all students and to provide ample opportunities for practice and feedback. I have taught precalculus, calculus 1, calculus and calculus 3 at the college level, in addition to tutoring students across math concepts and courses while working at the Mathematical Tutoring Center at NC State. I can also help you prepare to take the ACT or SAT math portions.

$30/hour for math (precalculus, calculus 1-3; statistics, trigonometry SAT/ACT math prep,etc...) or French tutoring.
$5 for transportation fee depending on location. Also able to meet for tutoring at Harold Washington Library for $0 fee.
