About Vivian

I have an extensive career in representing actors and helping my students become bookable actors. I teach acting, audition technique, script analysis, improvisation, modelling and mindfulness meditation.

Actors that I have taught have landed roles in shows and films on major networks including Netflix, HBO, Amazon Prime, Disney and Crave.

I have also designed several course outlines for acting classes for my acting & film school where I teach and inspire students to reach for their dreams, whether in acting, their personal lives or professionally.

How did I learn acting? Like many of you, I’m always eager to learn and explore my talents improving daily. I learned acting through thousands of hours of research, taking countless hours of acting courses(From many Acting studios including Second City, Uta Hagen, Masterclasses and Roger Love), studying movies, books and as an employee in acting academies. In my earlier years i was involved as an actor in community theater productions.

My goals teaching on Outschool is to help children achieve their true potential both personally and for their future professional lives through the programs I teach here. I’m always looking for new actors to add to my current talent roster as their are always going to be new shows needing new faces.

I have taught between 2000-4000 students and have helped many of them successfully prepare for their careers in acting. An average of 80% of my students have gone on to book work in film, tv and commercials.

My classes are interactive, as I feel hands on learning in acting IS the only way. Students will learn through my various programs how to analyze and score scripts, build characters, relationship development, improvisation, auditioning techniques and method acting techniques.
We will work with scenes and monologues.(depending on the course)

In my longer programs(3 months plus), students will be working towards perfecting their chosen acting pieces for the purpose of having them professionally taped and formatted into a demo reel( which I will talk about more in depth in classes). A demo reel is short clips of your best work showing your emotional range and possibly your skills in a vocal piece.(This is what casting directors expect to see prior to bringing you in for an audition). I am happy to offer recommendations of how to locate someone local to assist in the filming of your reel.

Some fun info about me:
I grew up in very small town in Canada in a family beekeeping business.(and yes I got stung a lot..... once I was even stung on my lip and had huge swollen lips and could barely talk.) I thought you may get a good giggle on this.

From a very young age I learned that ethics, integrity and service were the key to a successful life, both professionally and personally. At the ripe age of 9, my entrepreneurial spirit awakened as I quickly learned the importance of pounding the pavement, literally. I set up a honey stand on the side of the highway, and it quickly became a “toll” passage, as no cars were permitted past without purchase. My top selling items were hand crafted “Wax Finger Tubes”, which were proudly made fresh daily by running freezing water over my fingers until they were numb and then dipping them in burning hot wax, and VOILA!, a finger tube which was then filled with honey. Possibly I was the “inventor” of the honey tubes sold in stores now?

I am the proud mom of three sons, a chihuahua and a persian cat.

About the lesson

My teaching method is very hands on. I work with students by starting off with some light warm up games such as tongue twisters, followed by a brief lesson plan with examples and then I have the students create their own peace to present. Students will rehearse their pieces either in groups are by them self and then present to me and be given constructive feedback.
