About Natsumi

Hi, I'm Natsumi!
Thank you for reaching out!

I have 6+ years of experience as an elementary school teacher in Japan, and I still teach English at an elementary school today. (I love languages!) I was born and raised in Tokyo, so you'll learn clear, standard Japanese pronunciation.

I know how it feels to learn a language from zero, so I explain everything in simple English with lots of example sentences. No Japanese needed to start!

I'm also a professional coach, so we'll set your goals together and build a plan that fits your life and your style.

【Teaching Experience】

6+ years as an elementary school teacher in Japan (specialty: Japanese language)
2.5+ years teaching on Preply, with 1,800+ lessons completed
Many of my students continue for 6+ months, because they feel real progress
Currently: online Japanese tutor, part-time English teacher at an elementary school, and professional coach
Licensed: Elementary School (all subjects), Junior High School (Japanese), High School (Japanese)
One-year exchange student in Finland, so I understand the challenges of learning in a new language

About the lesson

We follow the Genki or Minna no Nihongo textbook, and I use slides that match each chapter. We go through them together, so you always know where you are and what's next.
You receive all the slides after the lesson. Review anytime, at your own pace.

Every lesson starts with a quick review, so you remember more even with a busy schedule.

You'll speak from the very first lesson, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Support beyond the lesson
Send me your questions anytime, even between lessons.
After each lesson, you can do homework and review on your smartphone app.
I create custom-made audio materials for you, so you get high-quality listening practice at your level.

Bonus: Tokyo tips and cultural insights, so you learn real Japanese for real life.

Great for complete beginners, travelers planning a trip to Japan, and anyone who wants to speak naturally and keep going.
