About Sloane
I’m an Electrical Engineering student at Johns Hopkins University, where I also take political science courses and stay involved in writing- and policy-focused work. I competed in Model UN for over a decade, which gave me extensive experience with argumentation, research, public speaking, and persuasive writing.
I’ve also worked with students in both one-on-one coaching settings and in the classroom, including teaching a class for two years. That experience has helped me learn how to adapt my feedback to different students, writing styles, and goals. I try to make the college essay process feel less intimidating while helping each student develop a clear, authentic story that still feels polished and strategic.

I take a very personalized approach to college essay coaching because I don’t believe there is one “perfect” formula for a successful essay. I’ve spent the past three years helping students develop essays that actually sound like them, while still being strategic about what admissions officers are looking for. My students have earned acceptances to schools including Yale, Cornell, UT Austin, and universities across the UC system.
A typical session starts with brainstorming or reviewing what you already have, then we work together on the story, structure, voice, and details that make the essay memorable. I focus on giving specific feedback and asking the right questions rather than rewriting an essay for you, so the final product still feels completely authentic to you.
I work with high school students at any stage of the application process, whether you’re starting with a blank page, choosing between ideas, or polishing a final draft. My goal is to help you tell a well-rounded, genuine story that makes your application stand out without sounding forced or overly “college essay.”
