About Arwa

As a fellow IB warrior, I understand exactly how difficult and daunting the workload in DP2 can be. Balancing challenging content, coursework and exam preparation across several subjects can feel overwhelming. I also know that achieving a high grade is often less about simply studying for longer and more about understanding exactly what the course and examiners require.

I particularly enjoy breaking down concepts that initially feel overwhelming and helping students become more confident and independent in their work. My aim is not only to improve grades, but to give students strategies they can continue using throughout their studies.

I’m friendly, patient and encouraging, while still being focused on helping students make measurable progress. I can’t wait to work with you!

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual strengths, weaknesses and goals. I focus first on making difficult concepts genuinely understandable, before applying that knowledge through exam-style questions and targeted past-paper practice.

I place particular emphasis on exam technique: understanding command terms, recognising what examiners are looking for, using markschemes effectively and developing a reliable approach under timed conditions.

For English, I teach close textual analysis, authorial choices, thesis development, essay structure and Paper 1/Paper 2 technique, I can also help with IO's (Individual Orals), and the HL Essay.

For Chemistry and Biology, I break complex topics into clear, manageable concepts before working through IB-style questions. Chemistry lessons can be taught at SL and HL, whereas Biology would be taught at SL.

For Business Management, I focus on applying theory to case studies, evaluation and constructing high-scoring extended responses. I can also help with the Business IA (Internal Assessment).

I achieved 41/45 in the IB Diploma, including 7/7 in English A HL, Chemistry HL and Business Management HL.

I also have previous 1:1 mentoring experience, supporting an IGCSE Literature student through weekly sessions and helping them build up their grade from a D to finally achieving an A.

Lessons are typically 60 minutes and can be adapted around the student’s needs, including intensive revision and past-paper sessions before mocks and final examinations.

I tutor IB English SL/HL, IGCSE English, IB Chemistry SL/HL, IB Biology SL, and IB Business Management.
