About Frederick

I achieved A's at A-Level and 9s at GCSE in both Latin and Ancient Greek, and I’m now continuing my studies with a Classics degree at Durham University. My own exam experience has given me a structured, effective approach to revision — one that I now use to help my students feel confident, prepared, and fully equipped to succeed on exam day.

About the lesson

In lessons, we’ll work closely on both your set texts and your language skills — analysing literary content alongside the syntactical and grammatical structure of Latin and Greek sentences.

A typical session is structured but adaptable. We might begin with a warm-up translation or vocabulary check, followed by focused work on an unseen passage or your prescribed texts. From there, we’ll explore grammar in context, tackle past paper questions, and reinforce any tricky constructions. Every lesson is tailored to your needs — whether that’s refining A-Level analysis or building GCSE foundations.

My approach is structured yet friendly, and I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel confident asking questions and engaging with the material. Whether you’re just starting out or aiming for top grades, I’ll guide you step by step towards strong results — including A/A* at A-Level and 9s at GCSE.

Great introductory lesson! Today we’ll be working through a verse passage from Ovid and discussing how to approach Latin verse unseens — including what to look out for and how to structure your thinking.
