About Alessio

My name is Alessio Alberga and I am a graduate Justice Studies student from the University of Guelph-Humber, and current student in the York University Bachelors of Education program. Working as an Emergency Supply Teacher has given me a variety of experiences that have allowed me to develop both as an educator and a person. I have gained teaching experience both online and in the classroom. I have worked in all grades ranging from Kindergarten to the Eighth grade. I have also worked closely alongside students with disabilities. Working with diversified classrooms has been a pleasure. I have an appreciation for the skills that I have acquired through working with children of different ages and learning styles. I am beyond motivated and excited to make a positive impact on the lives of my students and help them to reach their full potential.

About the lesson

- I am a current Mentor for York University's PAWS 2-5 program which aims to support student-athletes in University years 2-5. Sessions are 90 minutes in length and includes time to have a thorough check-in with myself, guided study time, any academic questions or concerns, test preparation, editing written work, or speaking through concepts and organizing thoughts

- I am also a student teacher (York U) in the primary level, with three years of emergency supply teaching experience (K-8). I wish to promote a curious, engaging and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and respected

- As a tutor I take immense pride in understanding the individualized needs of my students, as no one student learns the same. I always aim to work with my students (and family) to tailor their learning. This promotes agency and self growth giving students more autonomy over their learning, making learning more relevant (and fun!) to them!
