About Jacob
I know that asking for help with writing can sometimes feel daunting, so I aim to make lessons relaxed, supportive and judgement-free. My role is to help you strengthen your own ideas and writing style, while giving you clear, practical guidance that you can apply confidently on your own.
Alongside my MA in Law, I have extensive professional experience in senior roles across major organisations, where clear communication, strong written work and attention to detail have been essential. I bring that same professional standard to tutoring, while keeping sessions friendly and approachable.
I am reliable, well prepared and happy to adapt lessons around your goals, deadlines and preferred way of learning. Whether you need help with a single assignment, ongoing support with academic writing, or guidance on a CV or application, I will always be clear about how I can help and what we can realistically achieve.

My lessons are practical, structured and tailored to the individual. Whether you are working on an essay, dissertation, CV or simply want to improve the quality of your writing, I focus on helping you understand how to communicate your ideas clearly, confidently and effectively.
My approach is collaborative rather than simply correcting your work for you. We will look at structure, argument, clarity, grammar, tone and style, with a focus on explaining why changes improve the writing. For academic work, I can help with planning, developing arguments, improving critical analysis and making your writing more concise and persuasive. For CVs and professional writing, I focus on presenting experience clearly, tailoring applications and communicating your strengths effectively.
Lessons will typically last around 60 minutes, although shorter sessions can be arranged depending on what you need. Sessions can involve reviewing existing work together, planning a piece of writing from scratch, working through specific areas for improvement or preparing for an upcoming assignment or application.
I am currently studying for an MA in Law and also have extensive professional experience working in senior roles within major organisations. This has given me considerable experience producing, reviewing and refining academic, professional and business writing, as well as CVs, applications, reports and presentations.
My lessons are suitable for GCSE and A-Level students, university students, postgraduates, graduates and working professionals. I am particularly well suited to students who want to improve their essay or dissertation writing, as well as graduates and professionals looking to strengthen their CVs and written applications.
My aim is not simply to improve one piece of work, but to help you develop writing skills and techniques that you can continue to use independently.
