About Alexandra

I am a postgraduate student in Law who is originally from Belgium. French is my native language, English my second, and Dutch my third. I have been teaching English as a second language for over four years and French as a second language for over a year and a half. I have taught English as a second language to a couple of students between the ages of 8 and 10. These classes focused mainly on reading and pronunciation for the first few months. I then focused on basic grammatical structure and conjugation. Whilst they do still have accents when they speak, they are able to use correct grammatical structure and pronunciation in English without using the grammatical structure of their mother tongue.
I have taught French to three students between the ages of 9 and 12. I only taught them for a few months each but enough to be able to read French at a reasonable speed with correct pronunciation.

About the lesson

I mainly teach children between the ages of 8 and 10. My students are usually beginner level and either study the language outside of school or study it as a second or third language. My methodology varies depending on what I am teaching and who I am teaching. The first few lessons I will spend covering basic subject matter to identify how my students learn best. From then on, I adapt my methodology to obtain the best results. Since I mainly work with young children, I prefer to use stories, comic books, songs, and even tv shows to keep the attention span of the children and encourage them to continue learning outside of class.
I teach groups as I find children learn best this way. It introduces friendly competition and makes the teaching environment less daunting and more fun.

Details

The tariffs advertised apply to students between the ages of 9 and 12 who speak French or English at a level of A1 or lower.
I charge £/h 20 online for students aged 13 or above and those students who speak French or English at a level of B2 or higher and £/h 25 for in-person teaching.
