About Jay
Communication has always been at the centre of my work, particularly through writing, storytelling and understanding how people express their thoughts, experiences and ideas.
As a writer with over 50 books, I have developed extensive experience working with the English language across different subjects, styles and forms of communication. Writing has taught me that effective communication is about much more than having a large vocabulary; it is about knowing how to organise your thoughts, understand your audience and express yourself with clarity and confidence.
My own professional and life experiences have also given me the ability to communicate with people from different backgrounds and understand that everybody learns differently. Some people may already understand English very well but struggle with confidence when speaking, while others may need help finding the right words during interviews, professional conversations or everyday situations.
My approach is conversational, patient and adaptable. There is no expectation that you should already speak perfect English before beginning lessons with me. Conversations can develop naturally around subjects that genuinely interest you, while we gradually improve vocabulary, fluency, confidence and the way you structure your thoughts.
Writing more than 50 books has reinforced something I strongly believe: everybody has something worth saying. Sometimes, the most important skill is learning how to find the words to say it.

My lessons focus on helping you communicate confidently and naturally in English through real conversations rather than simply memorising vocabulary or following repetitive textbook exercises.
Every lesson is adapted to your individual goals, whether you want to improve your everyday English, prepare for a business or job interview, communicate more effectively at work, develop your vocabulary, or simply become more comfortable having longer conversations in English.
For interview preparation, we can practise realistic interview questions and work on how you explain your experience, achievements, strengths and ambitions clearly. Rather than teaching you to memorise scripted answers, I will help you understand how to structure your thoughts so that you can respond naturally when unexpected questions arise.
As a writer with over 50 books, language, storytelling and communication have been a significant part of my work. That experience allows me to help students think about not only whether their English is technically correct, but also whether their words communicate what they genuinely want to say.
Lessons can include business discussions, interview simulations, everyday conversations, debates, storytelling, vocabulary development and discussions about culture, books, travel, current affairs and other subjects that interest you.
Most importantly, my lessons provide a relaxed environment where making mistakes is part of learning. The objective is not to speak perfect English immediately, but to develop the confidence, vocabulary and communication skills that allow you to express yourself clearly in real situations.
