About Grace

Hi! I’m Grace! I’m a licensed elementary educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and I absolutely love working with kids and helping them discover what they’re capable of.

Outside of teaching, I’m a big fan of music, reading, and spending time with my family and friends. I’ve always loved music and enjoy playing piano and guitar. I’m also a huge fan of TV and movies, I even have an AMC A-List membership!

I’m naturally curious and love learning about all kinds of things, which is one of the reasons I enjoy teaching so much. I try to bring that same curiosity, creativity, and enthusiasm into my work with students. I want learning to feel approachable, interesting, and rewarding, and I love getting to know students and incorporating their own interests into our time together.

My name is Grace, and I’m a licensed elementary educator with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and experience in both classroom teaching and math intervention. I work with students in Kindergarten through 5th grade in math, reading, and writing.

My tutoring approach is personalized, encouraging, and student-centered. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and celebrating their progress. I use a combination of direct instruction, modeling, guided practice, hands-on activities, questioning, and independent practice to help students truly understand a skill rather than simply memorize an answer.

Before beginning instruction, I like to learn about the student’s strengths, areas of difficulty, interests, and classroom expectations. When appropriate, I use informal assessments or review activities to identify exactly where support is needed. This allows me to tailor each lesson to the individual student rather than using the same approach with every learner.

A typical lesson begins with a quick review or warm-up, followed by an introduction or mini-lesson focused on the specific skill we are working on. I then model the skill, work through examples with the student, and gradually give them more independence. We may incorporate games, manipulatives, real-world examples, reading passages, or other engaging activities depending on the student and subject. I end with a brief review of what we learned and identify what we should continue practicing in our next session.

What sets me apart is my experience as an educator and math interventionist. I have worked with students in small-group intervention settings and have experience using programs such as Bridges Math, FastBridge, and i-Ready to identify learning needs and monitor student growth. I bring that same data-informed approach to tutoring while keeping sessions positive, supportive, and engaging.

My lessons are designed for elementary students in Kindergarten through 5th grade who may need additional academic support, homework help, reinforcement of classroom concepts, targeted intervention, or an extra challenge. I can provide support in elementary math, reading, writing, foundational literacy skills, comprehension, fluency, problem-solving, and study skills.

Most importantly, my goal is for students to leave each session feeling more confident than when they arrived. I want students to understand not only how to solve a problem, but also to develop the confidence and strategies to approach the next one independently.
