About Danica
Hello! My name is Danica Mae Rivera, and I am a licensed English teacher from the Philippines with over 10 years of experience in education and ESL instruction. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Secondary Education major in English and a Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management. I am also TEFL and TEYL certified, with additional credentials as a Microsoft 365 Certified Educator. My teaching journey has included working with Korean, Japanese, and Chinese learners of all ages—from young children to adults—focusing on both general and conversational English. I have helped students improve their grammar, pronunciation, speaking fluency, and confidence in using English for academic and everyday situations. Currently, I am based in the United Arab Emirates, working as a Teacher Assistant at Zayed Education Complex. While I support teachers in managing the classroom and delivering lessons, my passion remains in teaching English directly, especially in one-on-one and small group settings. My Teaching Approach As an experienced and licensed English educator with over 10 years of teaching both in classroom settings and one-on-one, I focus on creating interactive, personalized, and goal-oriented lessons. My teaching style is flexible and student-centered, designed to meet the needs of each individual learner. Techniques and Methodology I use a communicative approach that emphasizes real-life application of English, particularly in speaking, listening, and confidence-building. For grammar and vocabulary, I integrate context-based learning through conversation, reading, and multimedia. I also use error correction, guided practice, and fluency drills. Lessons are tailored to each student's learning goals—whether it’s for business, academic, or everyday use. Typical Length of a Lesson My standard lesson is 50 to 60 minutes long. This allows enough time for warm-up, core activities, feedback, and short review. I also offer 30-minute sessions for quick conversation practice or review. Qualifications and Experience I am a licensed teacher in the Philippines, TEFL and TEYL certified, and a Microsoft 365 Certified Trainer. I’ve taught in both public and private institutions, as well as in the UAE, covering general English, academic support, and ESL classes from beginner to advanced levels. Who Are My Lessons For?
