Hello! I’m Miss Samantha, a passionate teacher, artist, and cat-lover. I have a deep love for all things literacy and creativity. As a teacher and professional artist, I bring creativity into everything I do, making learning engaging, fun, and meaningful. Whether it's through hands-on activities, creative writing, or play-based learning, my approach is designed to inspire and nurture a love for reading and writing. I have 9 years of teaching experience in general education and as a Reading Specialist. I am trained in the Wilson Reading System and Science of Reading.

About the lesson

As a dedicated Reading Specialist, I hand-tailor lessons to each student's unique needs after thorough assessments. I use various techniques and curricula, including the adapted Wilson Reading System, to build foundational literacy skills. I create personalized learning goals using assessment data, ensuring every lesson is purposeful and effective.

A typical lesson plan includes a balance of structured activities, with a focus on decoding and encoding. Other supplemental skills are included depending on student needs, such as, fluency drills, phonemic awareness activities, reading comprehension exercises, morphology, and creative writing prompts, integrated with hands-on Montessori methods. Play-based learning plays a vital role, engaging students through interactive activities that make learning fun and meaningful. I also incorporate books as tools to teach and inspire, encouraging literacy development through reading and storytelling.

What sets me apart as a tutor is my focus on each student's learning journey, ensuring they not only meet grade-level standards but also develop a lifelong love for learning. My lessons are designed for students of all levels, especially those with dyslexia or literacy challenges and I work with both younger learners and older students in need of additional support in reading and writing.
