Methodology

English (First Language)
I believe in meeting the student where they are at, and building on what skills and knowledge they already have. I will discuss the student's current knowledge and concerns, then build on their knowledge to increase their writing abilities.
My English Lessons are focused on helping the student to understand the text/subject of their writing, and explaining the writing processes that make for a good essay and easy reading.
English as a Second Language
My basic lessons consist of testing the student's fluency in the 1,000-10,000 most used words in their target language. Once I have a fair understanding of a student's fluency, I will coach them on the basic grammar of their target language (parts of speech, homonyms) as well as their pronunciation. More advanced lessons will be focused on interpreting writing and audible stories, as well as understanding casual versus professional sentence structure.
